RSVP: "Répondez s'il vous plaît" — the guest reply confirming whether they will attend.

RSVP stands for the French "Répondez s'il vous plaît" — please reply. On a wedding invitation it is the request that a guest confirm whether they will attend, plus often their meal choice and any dietary restrictions. RSVPs are the foundation of every seating chart: you cannot finalize seating until RSVPs are in.
