Receiving Line
Receiving Line: A formal line where the couple and parents greet each guest individually.
A receiving line is a traditional ritual where the couple, and often the parents of the couple, stand in a line at the entrance to the reception and greet each guest individually. It is becoming less common at modern weddings — couples often skip it and visit each table during dinner instead.
