Place Setting: The arrangement of plates, glasses, and cutlery for a single guest.
A place setting is the arrangement of plates, cutlery, glassware, and napkin in front of each guest. A formal place setting includes a charger (decorative under-plate), dinner plate, salad plate, bread plate, water glass, wine glass, champagne flute, and three to five pieces of cutlery on each side, plus dessert utensils above the plate.
